| I had never taken an antidepressants before, but had always had to deal with stress (primarily at work), so last October, I started taking 20mg of Paxil daily. The drug seemingly did help with stress. After sometime, I started to discontinue with Paxil. I thought I had done as prsisesly as all of the sources about paxil are advising. But after 12 days of taking 10mg every other day, and then stopping altogether, I started to feel severe dizziness, nausea, and a sensation which is difficult to explain really. It was feeling of going crazy or something like it. I have reluctantly returned to 20 mg daily. It had restored to some extend my positive emotions. However side effects were bothering me more and more. I have gained 20 pounds, my reaction on a tennis court and on a driver seat was not adequate. I have tried then to get off paxil two more times. The result was similar if not identical. I applaud you on your initiative and creativity in writing this E-book. This book is a must read for every person who is taking Paxil. In fact I think it should be included into fine print of Paxil disclosure. M. I started having panic attacks a little over two years ago. At first the only thing the Doctors were giving me was xanax. Then ine decided to start treating me with other medication. I started with zoloft, but it seemed as if it would wear off and we had to keep increasing the dosage every month. I finally hit the max, and they switched me onto paxil. I went up to 40 mgs and refused to let them take it any higher. The medication was helping, but the side effects were getting unbearable. I went from 120lbs to 150 lbs, in only a few months time, and that was my main reason for stopping the paxil. I took myself off of it. I did try to do it slowly at first, but got very frustrated and just stopped taking it. With in two weeks I was seeing a shrink. The withdrawal was terrible. I had constant numbness in my face and hands, and a lot of strange sensations through my arms. I was extremely dizzy and had terrible headaches. Not to mention I was having panic attacks on top of it all. After reading your book I had realized how indeed difficult to get off Paxil and what my steps should be like. Five months after I had started with your plan I am Paxil free, and I don’t feel any side effects of withdrawal. Let me add that after a several diets I was never able to take the weight off that I put on while taking paxil. It is constant battle top get the pounds off, but I have the feeling they aren’t going anywhere. N. I was put on 20mg of paroxetine 3 years and five months ago. About 8 months ago I began to get discontinuation symptoms, even though I was still on 20mg and had never been off it, making me think that I was actually becoming desensitized. My doctor said that this is not possible, however to my knowledge no studies have been done on Paxil use for over 12 months. 2 months ago I summoned the courage to start reducing my dose. My physician said not to, and tried to increase my dose, but I have persisted, tapered my dose and have been SSRI free for two days. Coming off paroxetine has been one of the hardest things I have been through...it's up there with survivng an enormous overdose of everything I could find in the house. I have been reducing my dose very slowly, but have suffered nausea and vomitting, headache, visual disturbance, constant shaking, crying spells, panic attacks, fear of EVERYTHING and balance problems. Paroxetine put me in a helathier mindframe to work through my depression, but through medical neglect and lack of available information, my experience has become a very negative one. I begin my first year of medical school in 2 weeks, and my main motivation is the fact that nobody should have to go through what I have, with no support from qualified practitioners, and I am determined to change that. My advice to people struggling with this drug is to persevere, know that the symptoms will go eventually, trust your instincts over your doctor and shop around - not even doctors know everything. I have a large archive of resources on this topic, and should anybody wish to contact me, I am happy to listen and help. Thanks. R. I'm crying right now, because 6 months ago I was suffering with severe dizziness, unbreakable headaches, hot flashes, and anxiety. I have felt this way for the past two weeks after getting off of Paxil. My symptoms were making me feel so ill. I was going to get back onto Paxil then just to make these horrible symptoms go away. It is my fortune that I have found your site. J. I think your E-book is just great and so reassuring for many just to know that it is possible to get over it. B. I just wanted to let you know how helpful it has been to me and to thank you for maintaining this site. D. As a person who was trying to get off Paxil during 2 years I would like to thank you for an informative, easy to understand, realistic E-book. W. I would like to thank you for putting together your experience. The information is very helpful, encouraging, and informative. D. I just wanted to thank you for information I received from your E-book. My 75-year-old mother was on Paxil for 7 years. She wasn’t able to drive because of side effects (dizziness and severe anxiety). Considering numbers of medical appointments for person of her age it was burden for all in a family. Now she is back to a driver seat and back to life. Thank you again for your E-book. M. This book was like a light at the end of a tunnel. It described everything that had happened to me in great detail, gave scientific assumptions why it happened, backed it all up with solid research, included testimonials from hundreds of others in the same situation. The book literally saved my life, and if I'd known about it a year earlier, could have saved me untold grief and agony as well. It is the only collated, comprehensive source I know of for Paxil withdrawal information. It is my sincere wish that people who need this information should know it is extremely helpful and broadly comprehensive. N. … I think your E-book is the best guideline for everyone who wants to say farewell to Paxil. P. |
